Sendai Tanabata festival has begun on August 6th this year. Tanabata decorationsmade by participants of the 2014 Japanese Summer Study Program(JSSP) have been displayed at the corner of the Nakakecho shopping street.

JSSP students visit the areas devastated by the Great East Japan Earthquake every year and study about efforts to recover. This year's international students agreed to join the Sendai Tanabata Project 2014 sponsored by an advertising firm. That's how it became the Sendai tanabata decorations.
